The site "1855.com" set up in 1998 has been placed in liquidation, accused of fraud. The owners are accused of selling wine but not delivering it and even offering vintages that simply do not exist. Some 11000 clients say they were not satisfied and over 300 have taken action. Lawyers for the site owners blame Bordeaux merchants for selling wine that was supposed to be reserved for 1855.com The company is thought to have debts of 40 million euros.
