Arrived as promised at nine o' clock. One house has had its energy expertise and is a " D" which the expert felt was good, le moyen apparently.
When Charlie Smallwood was here he said "waste of time these energy efficiency things, no-one bothers about them" I said " First thing I look at when searching for a property. Under " F" I think - no thanks - too much insulating to do"
Charlie politely told me, "You see a house you like and sense goes out of the window" and he is probably right.
This post will be altered if the second house is under an " F"
Another " D"

Malc adds: Although both houses are "D" for energy efficiency (and that is with walls and roofs insulated, double glazing and shutters), for greenhouse gas emissions they were quite different. This clearly depends entirely on the fuel used. The main house has oil fired central heating and scores "F" on the emissions scale whereas the second house is heated by electricity and scored "B". Now this does not take account of the nuclear power station producing the electricity with all the problems that implies. Wood burners which are so popular around here are also pretty bad for greenhouse gas emissions.
