The invitation to " Picnic in the Park" is written in quite a different way for the French. If you look in " nouvelles francaise" you will see the invitation is written in a totally different style. I asked French friend Martine to do a similar invite in French and she said " but the French won't understand any of that" and copied it in the style they would understand.
Arranging events with the French in mind are quite a different proposition which we are appreciating more and more.
The Salon horticole d'été is just the same, it is at this point an enigma to the French. So far only one person has understood what it is about, so it is going to take constant explaining.
I have the feeling we are going to have some fun with both these events. Someone did say " I think you are opening up a can of worms with the salon d'été horticole" a lovely expression; wonder what the French make of that one!" and I don't agree with that anyway.
