The very beautifully restored church of St Robert at Selgues (Verfeil sur Seye) was the venue of a charming concert of spiritual songs from mezzo soprano Catherine Mayoly. Many familiar songs such as Schubert's "Ave Maria" and Gounod's "Panis Angelica" were joined by gospel songs such as "O happy day", joined in enthusiastically by the audience. The concert was organised by the indefatigable Therese Gautier, who seems to have single-handedly raised the funds over the last 10 years. These concerts at Selgues are always good value and today was no exception.
