Salon du jardin d' été is rolling along on its unstoppable course. In a couple of days we will be able to give you the categories, and there should be something for everyone ( even useless me )
I have to at this point thank Margaret Brown from a gardening club at Lauzerte for the help she has given us. Thank you Margaret.
We have made numerous changes to fit the villagers of Varen, an important one being that on the day there will no charges, the whole day will be free. We had planned on charging 50 cents for each entry but as Nicole, a French lady on the committee tells us, for a lot of the old people in the village who have not much money that might put them off entering.
We will have costs, Malc will do the printing but paper and printing do cost money. We will be able to use for some things the photocopier in the Mairie. Then all the tablecloths must be white, a few paper rolls should sort that out. White paper plates to display the articles on, we will provide; but they still have a cost for the number of entries we are envisaging.
On the day we will have a begging bowl, infact more than one and hope some participants will drop in a euro or two for us to cover these costs.
Also differing from Margaret's show we are having a section where all the products are bio. This is the idea of another French lady on the committe who takes her bio plant growing seriously.
We have some excellent judges lined up, mainly French. The exhibits will not have your names on but a number, so there can be no favouritism. Your name will only be displayed after the judging when the winners card will be shown proudly with your name.
Everyone on the committee was excited by the prospect of the day so I hope you will all participate
and join us in this very English event turned French.
I have visions of a line of exhibitors on the morning snaking round the village, waiting with armsfull of entries but once again Malc talks of my vivid imagination.
Go on tell me you are excited and will enter your tomatoes or your roses: actually not your roses as I would like to win that award !
Malc says are you allowed to enter if you are on the organising committee ? As long as I am not a judge I do not see why not.
