Who do you think is right?

The so-called piste wars between French authorities and a British ski-instructor at one of France's poshest resorts could end in jail for the Englishman after prosecutors called for him to be given a one-year sentence for teaching without the right qualifications.
Despite having the highest-rated British ski instructor's licence, Butler has stubbornly refused to obtain qualifications needed to teach in France, in the face of repeated convictions and fines.
"Mr Butler does not represent his countrymen because there are hundreds of British ski instructors who teach in France without any problems."
London Mayor Boris Johnson called the dispute "a complete, naked, shameless and unrepentant breach - by the French - of the principles of the European Single Market.
It was stressed that the 51-year-old Butler had "never taken the slightest step to conform to the French law."  Info. from The Local
Val says When I first heard about this story which has rumbled on for months if not a year, I had sympathy for the ski instructor. Now after looking more into the story I feel strongly that the law of the country is the law. Why has the instructor not passed the French exam like many others of his compatriots?  He has been here in the winters for 30 years and I bet the reason he will not sit the exam is he has not learnt the language. Well he no longer has my sympathy.
