Spring Concert Puycelsi Sunday 27 April at 18.00

Many of you will be familiar with the hugely successful September concerts which we put on to raise money to help restore the church in Puycelsi.

The singers make the concerts, especially a stalwart group from Parisot, and they have been asking fora second concert for some years. So by popular demand this year there will be a second and this spring one will be a moving mixture of superb singing in a wonderful setting. Once again Zena Baker, from the Toulouse Opera will be lifting her beautiful soprano voice to the roof of the church as she sings ‘If God be with us’ from the Messiah and ‘O for the Wings of a Dove’ from ’Hear My Prayer’ by Mendelsohn. The choir will sing the rest of that work as well as works by Haydn, Brahms, Fauréand Mozart. Because it is Easter they will be opening with Hallelujah Chorus. Finishing the concert and building on his superb playing of Pomp and Circumstance No 1 by Elgar, Nicholas O’Neill will be playing Widor’s Toccata from the 5th Symphony.

Now all we need is the audience so please come and join us and as the French say ‘venez nombreux .
So far we have raised enough money to restore nearly all the classified objects in the church including beautiful fourteenth century wood carvings. This year we have enough money to restore the first of the 5 chapels and suddenly a couple of significant grants may have appeared which will enable a second one to be tackled. However it is the income from our concerts which make the difference, unlocking matched funding which makes such a difference.

Tickets are once again are only €15.00 and can be reserved by phoning 05 63 33 15 84 or emailingarcpuycelsi@gmail.com . The are paid for and collected at the door from 17.15. Unclaimed tickets are sold on a first come first served basis from 17.45.
