Lock up your silver

Hi Val and Malcom,
Re  your above posting on TAG (cannot remember date - sorry)....in trying to tidy up files etc i have come across a warning given to us last year by a friend, the paper was published by the Gendarme and warns one about what to look for when there are signs of burglaries happening around your vicinty. Entitled ' Les fameux signes du danger de  cambriolage', this gives details of what  to look for, apparently some thieves, when working in gangs draw signs on your property which identify you to members of the gang following and aiming to rob! There are too many (21) to list but i can try to scan the paper or perhaps bring  it with me next Wed (Opera night) if you are interested in putting the list out on TAG. The signes apparently are a language that identify the occupant by indicating characteristics, habits etc.
Scary i know but i best to be informed!
best wishes
Joan
Val says Good idea Joan better safe than sorry. I know when we went to help a friend who had been burgled the gendarmes said '' never leave your gates open when you go out, it gives the thief a sign that the car has gone and so have you''. I can drive around Varen and see friends gates open and know they are out ... and so does a thief.
This might sound all a bit alarmist when we know how safe we feel here. The problems are much more in the summer when thieves come on their holidays.
When we were in Henley we had damn alarms everywhere, you could never get up in the night with out setting the thing off, or a visiting animal turning on search lights. I would not like to go back to that. Our dogs are the best alarms and they would have your leg off if you tried to break in.... look at Malc. [stop smiling you dogs!]
