Important vote today for Manuel Valls

Just one week after Manuel Valls became France’s new prime minister, he faces a confidence vote on Tuesday that is widely seen as a test of the government’s will to reform.

Valls, who was appointed by President François Hollande after the ruling Socialist Party suffered a weak showing in the country’s local elections, is to launch plans to phase out 30 billion euros ($41 billion) in payroll tax on companies in exchange for hiring.
The prime minister is to outline his priorities in his first major policy speech at 3pm
before the confidence vote.
