Hi Val and Malcolm,
Matthew just phoned to let me know that the bags with goods have been delivered in Calais. After a lot of phone calls with various volunteers, he was sent to a "shed" where an old Frenchman and two young women, one French and one German were very happy to receive the bags. I have to pass on their thanks to you.
There were lots of people there, a lot of English too, bringing stuff to help the refugees face the coming autumn and winter.
The "shed" was very near one of the camps and Matt's van was surrounded by young men straight away. Someone took hold of one of the bags but some policemen convinced them it was better to distribute the goods via "Salam" and the bag was put back in the van without any problems.
