Searching for the regards for the fosse septique yesterday (see story below) became an arduous task as a result of a small arithmetic miscalculation by Malc. First regard was easily located under its covering of grass by looking at pictures taken at installation some 8 years ago. So we know the length of the fosse, just calculate how far away the second one will be. The computer whirls and comes up with 200 cms. "Right" said Fred and started to dig. Several holes later he started to wonder if he was on the right track. A guest at the house offered to help and set to with gusto. No success.
So this morning, refreshed and with computer re-booted a quick rethink said "140 cms". First strike of the spade met with a clang of stone and 20 minutes later the regard was uncovered.
So he had a cup of tea.
