Anti-radar warnings not illegal

The group of Facebook users who were convicted in Rodez for warning in real time of the presence of speed traps have had their sentences overturned on appeal in Montpellier.
Given that the electronic devices such as GPS (satnavs) routinely, and legally, warn of "dangerous sectors", ie a fixed radar camera, why is it wrong to warn of a police patrol, they argued. The effect of the warning should be to slow the traffic down, which must be what is wanted, as those panels put up ahead of cameras are supposed to do.
We suspect, however, that flashing your headlights to warn oncoming cars of the flics lurking in the bushes will still be frowned upon by the law enforcers. Anyone fancy trying it out in court?
