Not for the obvious reasons (shooting each other, shooting passers by etc) but from the risks of contracting respiratory disease. Over 70 cases have been reported in west France this year of tularemia which is transmitted from animals to humans by a bacteria. The contact with either cadavres or infected live animals can pass the infection, or even be inhaled. Apparently hares are especially affected. Hunters are advised to wear gloves when cleaning kills, to wash hands and arms, look out for ticks, avoid ill looking game.....Perhaps the chasse should be banned on health and safety grounds.
