On the subject of grolle. I don't know if you have found the answer to this,
but I have fond recollections of many an evening spent drinking out of one.
The word has many meanings, but essentially is a piece of footwear, used to
be wooden clogs, now more general.
However, it can also be a wooden bowl (like a round tea pot) with 6 or so
spouts. You fill it with genepi ( a gin made from the Alpine juniper
berries, picked in the summer) and then drink it after dinner (raclette,
cheese fondue). It is found in many ski resort restaurants, (the old
fashioned type). The idea is to pass the bowl around the table and each
person drinks out of the bowl, using a clean unused spout. I spent a season
in Val Thorens in 1982 and passed away many an evening....
You will see pictures of them if you go on to French google and type in
grolle.
hope this helps, but of course one has to first get hold of the genipi
.!!!!
Merry Christmas
