Icing for Christmas cakes

Hiya
I've been asked where to buy glycerine (it will be needed by anyone wanting to make their own icing for Christmas cakes.)
You won't find it in the supermarket - you will get it in the chemist!

A long time ago I tried to buy some at the pharmacy, the assistant said she would order it for me.When I went to pick it up I was given a hospital style drip with the relevant tubes !!As I said it's a long time ago, perhaps it's different now.

Having decided to revert to fondant icing this year, I bought it in the pharmacy in Gaillac yesterday. 2.00€ for enough  for Delia Smith's 8" round cake and I suspect her chocolate torte as well.

When Delia came out with her recipe, the chemist was the only place you could buy glycerine and I suspect that it is still a standard item over here because so many pharmacys make things like hand creams.
