Car racing is one thing horse racing is another. In the latter, horses are commodities that are usually discarded when no longer profitable. That leaves rescue organizations a lot of work trying to save them from the abatoir. I am opposed to sports that exploit animals for the amusement of humans. I believe there are plenty of other ways to find amusement.
