Nous sommes le samedi douze decembre

A special day for us, our 14th anniversary of our arrival to live full time in France
We left Henley on Thames after celebrating with our granddaughter her first birthday on the 11th. Took the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen sleeping overnight, then drove down with two cars filled to the gunnels, things that would not fit into the removal van. We had hired a gite up at Vaour which was a disaster, not fit for purpose comes to mind. It was a freezing week with little heating and no insulation in the gite, the relief when we signed the final act and were able to move into the presbytere was tremendous. We had planned on a romantic first evening meal in the house but that went hay wire when the removal men did not finish till late unpacking. They looked pathetic at having no supper and planned to sleep in the van. It was so cold we had 5 including us for supper and then had to make them up beds.
Happy days, we remember each moment as exciting... and it still is.
and Sharki/ Charlotte was 15 yesterday, happy birthday Sharki.
