Marie-France Esteve was known well beyond the little town in Haute Pyrenees where she died on Saturday aged just 62. She had been suffering from breast cancer for some years and the knowledge had increased her desire - to become the most tattooed woman in France.Her first tattoo was when she was 15 and since then she has had hundreds of designs inked by over 40 artists, including, apparently many of the country's best. The designs often reflected some incident in her life, which was described in her autobiography as "brutal". She did ensure that the areas treated with radiotherapy were left uncoloured.
