This weekend was the 100th anniversary of the birth of Edith Piaf. Born in Paris her expressive voice and diminutive stature earned her the soubriquet "la môme", little sparrow. Hers was a hard life, marked by drugs and exploitation, but in "Je ne regrette rien" she expressed her defiance. Now a true national icon she will be remembered. We must look out the excellent film "La mome", in which Marion Cotillard brilliantly portrayed the little sparrow.
