Far from backgrounds of extreme poverty, many of the hundreds of thousands of migrants and refugees inching their way through the continent studied at university or worked in good jobs before disaster hit. Vals says refugees, they are people just like us who have lost everything but will enter our societies and work hard, as they did in the past.
