Nous sommes le jeudi dix sept septembre

Funny time we are having at the moment looking at houses. We realise now if you have an agent leave it to them to show people around.  Two houses we viewed the vendors insisted on walking around with us. To one when we admired the " double vitrage" she said "Oh you need it to keep out the traffic noise, Friday night the traffic along the main road is really noisy"  Just what a prospective buyer needs to hear.
Another when we asked if the seemingly quiet country road was a " rat run" agreed it was and their last cat had been killed a couple of months earlier and it was not worth getting more.
We also realise how many homes are really just holiday homes and are not set up for year round living, inadequate heating or an ancient wood burner with wonky pipes is not unusual.
Many people have houses that smell, if you remember an agent suggested we had pet smells and we spent time cleaning carpets and spring cleaning but still go around with smelly sprays. We now know smells from toilets, cooking, body smells, damp are not what you want when looking around.
I thought we were untidy I know realise many people live in total chaos, piles of papers, clothes, unmade beds but what you feel about that is there are no cupboards or glory holes.
How often have I looked at photos of a house to be disappointed on viewing. One bungalow looked fabulous, great grounds and a really good price. Malc said " what is the catch?" The catch was it was just off the Caylus Villefranche road hidden admittedly by a big conifer hedge.
Some have views but nothing like here, I think a garden or country view we will have to be satisfied with.
More viewings over the next few days arranged and thank you to all the  people who are telling us about their homes which are for sale or coming up for sale, now you need to tidy and put round the air spray!!
