Dishonorable consul?

Is selling rubber dinghies and lifejackets aiding the people traffickers , helping desperate refugees or just taking advantage of the inevitable? The French honorary consul at Bodrum in Turkey owns a chandlery in the port and has sold such material to the migrants without question. She knows it is wrong, but said "if we didn't do it someone else would".
At a time when thousands of people are giving their time, goods and money to help people fleeing the war in Syria it is not only the criminal traffickers who are profiting from their misery. The French Foreign Ministry has suspended the consul from her (entirely voluntary) post.
