Hi Val
During the excellent lunch with 37 of us at L’Ô’zone yesterday I was discussing car insurance for UK residents who want to spend several months in France.
Our previous insurer was Aviva and their policy allowed up to 6 months in the EU but in the small print I discovered it was limited to trips of no more than 90 days which is partly why we would return to England for a while in the summer. Some other insurers have even tighter limits on the length of time you can travel in the EU.
Now I have switched to Saga (and it is cheaper too). Here is the wording from their policy:
“Cover for trips abroad – we automatically provide the same cover as you receive in the UK when you or your
named spouse/partner drive in the European Union, for an unlimited period.”
For an additional premium they also include European Breakdown Cover.
I thought this might interest some other readers. Next year we plan to stay the whole summer.
Best regards
John D
