The national committee of Nicholas Sarkozy's UMP party has accepted a name change to "Les Republicains", but in a country which is a republic the use of the name by one party has been controversial.
But for 5 local Tarn and Aveyron families it has a special resonance, because "Republicain" is their family name. They have joined other groups in bringing legal action against M Sarkozy's plan.
