Poor Manuel no hens

Manuel Gomez keeps chickens at Bruch on the road to Le Sauvetat,  or he would keep them if they were not constantly stolen. For the 33 rd time all his hens have been stolen leaving him with only the cocks. It must be the same person he is supplying, but after so many thefts why does he continue? The stress and annoyance must just not be worth it. I wonder what he could keep instead; dobermans,  they do not give eggs but they might give the thief a fright.
