Monkeys stolen

17 rare monkeys were stolen from a zoo in northern France at the weekend. Two families of rare and endangered species were taken during Saturday night. The Beauval zoo in Cher et Loir is a centre of excellence in protecting and rearing rare tamarind monkeys, of which fewer than 200 individuals existed 20 years ago.
It is suspected that collectors of monkeys would pay a lot for these animals. A Twitter campaign #Rendezlespetitssinges has generated thousands of followers since Sunday.
