Flying lessons on the cards

We have had kestrels nesting at Mas del Sol for more than 16 years we have been told. We have certainly seen them here in the last eight, but this year marks a change. We have 3 holes in the side of the gite wall. When the builder Para came to repoint the house we told the men they must leave the holes which we knew where the kestrels nesting sites. For 7 years they have used the same hole but this year they have chosen a  completely new one. As fas as we can see this is a bigger space with more nesting room. Both birds can fly in easily to feed the young and at the moment the visits with tasty mousey morsels is frenetic. We are waiting to see young appearing at the entrance where they stand for a few days stretching their wings before fledging. A nerve wracking time for the parents and for us as we try and steer four cats well away from young on the ground who are practising flying.
