Your are fine for me Malc, I prefer the old models!

I was very chuffed last night as two couples independantly said they liked our kitchen. This is unusual I have to say, I love it but it is not everyone's cup of tea, in fact one friend suggested awhile ago that" my wife would get that kitchen sorted out in no time!"
You see we all have different tastes and ideas, mine stem from the dislike of waste, using what you have to best advantage and I do love wood.
Most people dream of kitchen cupboards from Ikea, Hygena or such places whilst I would much prefer going to an auction, antique or second hand shop, in English it is known as being " a secondhand rose" Even Malc has lasted the course, no turning him in for a newer model.
I think the thing most people would hate in the kitchen is the sink, it is brown ceramic with a  double sink and two draining boards. I was about to swap it for a white ceramic sink, butler style when I suddenly looked at it and thought " why throw out something which fits the colour scheme, is in good condition and is much more practical then the new one planned, so we got a new tap.
The best thing about the room apart from its nice proportions are the views from the windows and door onto the  balcony.
If planning a new kitchen you do not always have to think " Ikea", and rummaging around is so much more fun. Expect a little wood worm along the way but it is France after all, you can treat wood. I would love to see everyone save a fortune on fitted kitchens and put in your own style rather than mass produced tatt. My opinion for what it is worth.
How many readers have I lost with this post?
The cupboards had new door fronts put on, the oven was a birthday present for Malc.

Furniture was from antiques fairs
