Une mamie " relooking"

A few months ago when visiting the hairdresser for a shampoo and cut I felt it was a bit patronising at the end of the cut when the young lady said " voila, une mamie relooking" now yes, I am a Grandma but at the hairdresser you have the feeling you could be anyone glamorous and I was brought up with a jolt back to reality with that statement.
I do seem to be living up to the " mamie" stereotype though at this coiffeuse, falling over a step in the middle of the two rooms I just had not seen, so  now I am shepherded about by my arm in case I fall (really irritating)
The next time I went I had passed a really busy day and so as soon as I sat down to have my hair cut I fell asleep! Could happen to anyone but it has never happened to me before.
The last time there went off smoothly till we came to the point where after your hair has been cut they swish off the cape and brush you down. At this point I realised my sweater was covered in hay bits from a quick feed I had given my donkeys just before leaving home, how embarrassing. The lady next to me had beautiful hair, make up, painted nails and NO hay in her jumper and she smiled a watery smile in my direction.
Heavens know what will happen when I go today.
Just back from the coiffeuse with a short haircut which the hairdresser said was " chic" and I thought of Jean Shrimpton or a young Twiggy  so she was doing alright till she brushed me down and said  "ca neige" insinuating my hair was WHITE.
