To French and Dutch readers, this is an expression used in England. Malc says " not many but you use it, Val"
Anyway I am talking about Penny our one remaining hen.
Yesterday we moved the hen house and surrounding mesh fencing to behind the donkey shed. All now under the big roof for added protection in the extremely cold winters we have ( just incase any government MP is reading ) Last night we watched as poor Penny went to put herself to bed and saw her standing on the spot where the hen house should be. Her expression was bemused, seriously bemused. I picked her up making sure both wings were tightly under my arm. I hate it when hens flap about, I took her to the newly positioned hen house and popped her into bed.
When I let her out this morning, a fluffing of feathers and she was off on her favourite pursuit, cricket hunting. Later in the day I checked if she had been back to a lay an egg and she had, and tonight she put herself to bed. Now here we have an intelligent chicken, and that is where " not as green as she is cabbage looking" comes in.
