Debbie and John enjoyed the day

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the plant swap today! As our first one, we were really keen for the day to be a success, and thanks to the great turn-out and excellent donations of plants and seeds, it really was. Even the weather was on our side, with no rain and a bit of sunshine later on for the steady trickle of visitors who came after the initial morning rush.
There was a great cross-section of the community, with TAG readers, Fifi members, and friends and neighbours from Les Espiemonts and nearby hamlets, many familiar faces and a pleasing number of new ones.
Amongst the many plants were: achillea, aquilegia, campsis, physalis (Chinese lantern), verbena bonariensis, and enough strawberry plants for people to take them away in crates! There were lots of great seeds too: antirrhinums, fennel, honesty...too many to mention here! A really exciting addition was a range of French heritage tomato seeds donated by one of our neighbours. It makes you really feel like part of the local community when you’re presented with seeds grown by local families for hundreds of years. We love preserving traditional varieties I can’t wait until next year when we can sow them.
We’ll be running another plant swap in the spring, and would value your thoughts as to the best day and time to hold it. Some suggestions so far are: Saturday afternoon, 2 – 5 or Sunday morning, 9.30 – 12.30. We’d love to hear what you think, so email us on: tag.gardeningtopics@gmail.com
