Lavender in Provence under threat

Lavender fields in Provence are under threat from  tiny leafhoppers – around 1-2mm, who  feed off the sap in the plant and introduce microbacteria which dry out the plant. No treatment has yet been found. Added to this in the UK the lavender producers have had a really productive year and there is also a threat from lavender coming  from Bulgaria.
