A small village school in Therondels, Aveyron, was threatened with losing one of its two teachers because of falling school numbers. So parents decided to advertise in the Bon Coin, the well known on-line buying and selling site. That was back in March and for the September rentrée there will be three extra pupils signing on. But with only 25 children all told there may still not be enough to save the second teaching post.
One teacher may be asked to deal with all the children, aged 5-11, in one class. The Academic inspection of Aveyron is to decide this week if the parents have done enough to warrant the second post.
