Review of Le Duo (El duo?) restaurant at Memer

Hi Val

We have been meaning to stop here for lunch for a long time, having watched it change from empty to refurbished very attractively, and having spent the morning pruning and then spraying the vines rewarded ourselves with a visit here.
It is nicely furnished, and we were welcomed on arrival although I noted that we were the only people apart from a couple having drinks on the terrace, but were disappointed to find that the menu consisted of one course options only, vast plates of salad starting with the vegetarian option at €13.50 and rising onwards and upwards with smoked salmon, faux filet, terroir etc.
We open for the smoked salmon and received a vast plate of salad, far too much even after a hard morning working at €16.50.  We also ordered a pichet of vin rose, which was a strange colour and very cloudy, and on tasting was definitely off.  This was changed without demur and from a bottle this time!
Another 7 guests arrived over our time there, but we opted for dessert at home, although we did have coffee at €2.  Total cost was €45, so overall glad we have tried it but would not return for a meal but a nice place for a drink.
All good wishes
Nicola and Martin Baxter
