Reserved parking

It is not unusual for the maire to have a reserved parking place. But the maire of Roquefort (Lot et Garonne) has found himself in the middle of a scandal when he parked his (German!) sports car in a spot reserved for disabled drivers at a local Intermarche. He had just popped in to buy his bread (why not a boulangerie?) and was only "a couple of minutes".

Well, it was raining!
A local shopper photographed the car and posted it onto the internet, provoking a "polemique" on several fronts. From "elected officials think they can do what they want" to "there are too many disabled places and they are always empty" the usual arguments have been trotted out.
Whether simply ignoring the reserved signs is worse than the misuse of the blue badges is a moot point, but getting a badge is not simple and someone who is sufficiently disabled to need one should have the right to find the parking spots not taken up by able bodied drivers - maires or not.
