The number of people killed on France's roads was 30% higher in September than the year before. 335 people lost their lives, 78 more than in September 2015. August had seen a fall of 9%, but overall in 2016 to date fatalities are 3% higher than the previous year, a total of 2558 so far. No further analysis of these disturbing figures has yet been published.
