And they love chocolate

The 22nd Salon du Chocolat opens today in Paris. Said to be amongst the top 10 "gourmet" events in the world the Salon will have over 500 French and international chocolatiers showing their expertise. More that 100000 visitors are expected, an indication that the French still love their chocolate.
Bars of chocolate still account for most of the 3 billion euros spent on the product and over half is bought at Christmas and Easter. Over 30% of the chocolate bought in France is dark, making the French easily the biggest consumers of this type. But they are far from Europe's greatest gourmands, that honour going to the Germans, followed by the Swiss and Austrians. Even UK eats more per head. Pass the Cadbury's Milk Flake, please.
