Not just cats and dogs at the SPA

The SPA (Society for the Protection of Animals) branch in Toulouse is seeing more and more "new pets" as well as cats and dogs. Currently providing a home for goats, pigs, cockerels, ferrets, sheep, a pony and various smaller animals. One sheep of rather disagreeable character has become the inseparable companion of a pony and will need to be homed together.
The centre accepts all kinds of pets, except reptiles which need specialist care. Rather than abandon pets in the street the SPA urges owners to bring them to the centre. A fee of around 150 190 euros is asked for animals taken in and adoptions are about 200 euros for a dog. But the organisation relies heavily on gifts and donations to deal with the ever increasing numbers of animals it has to care for. Currently housed are 387 dogs and over 80 cats, with over 1900 animals re-homed this year to date.
A little pig from an illegal elevage wags its tail when keepers approach.
