A young man of 21 employed in the family circus as a clown failed to stop for a police control having been spotted using his portable, leading to a pursuit for several kilometres. Driving a 26 metre lorry containing camels and llamas at speeds up to 70 kph he was eventually stopped. It became clear why he was reluctant to stop: no insurance; no MOT; worn tyres; no HGV licence. Added to that using his phone while driving in a fashion likely to endanger other road users and the animals in his vehicle.
The magistrate at Foix was not amused and sentenced him to 6 months in prison.
Presumably the other vehicles in the circus were also checked.
