You know Malc and I both feel we have had a very good, happy life apart from Malc having cancer in his teens and losing his leg, life has been great to us.
Sadly not so for refugees escaping war torn countries.
We have been waiting to hear if a young couple from Iraq who have now a three day old baby, living in a tent in squalid conditions in Calais would like to spend the winter here.
Harder than you think to leave the safety of an enclave however bad. At least you have people around you who have suffered as you have and some speak your language.
For us we hear that the couple have not got their papers yet having been tied up one assumes with the birth of the baby. Now taking in an illegal immigrant is against the law so if we do take in the family we must spend time straight away making them legal. Michelle Jones tells me that she has an offer from a Frenchman to help them achieve this.
So now we wait to hear if the couple dare to come. We should know by tomorrow about this little family.
