A sad story this on our doorstep at Monestiès

Michel Regourd who was 68 and a retired miner living at Monestiès kept a few " bovines" cows.  he went into the field early morning to help a cow in labour.  In helping,  the distressed cow turned on the man and kicked him and he received "plusieurs ruades"
He was left unable to move behind the fence of the stable. 15 hours later his wife went to find him alive and conscious. She called medical services but he died on the way to he hospital at Carmaux.
Cows as with any big animal can be dangerous.

"plusieurs ruades" is several kicks

Donkeys although they look cuddly can also give " a coup de sabot" / kick from the hoof,  to the unwary, (for example passing though a field with their enemy a dog.)
