Do we have the right to criticise the French government?

A discussion going on behind the scenes on facebook. Do we have the right to criticise the French government as we are from the UK?
Firstly having been here full time for 15 years and getting to the point we will take out French citizenship, I feel I have the right. They are more my government than the one in the UK after all this time. I am also European, for how ever long that will be.
A reader on facebook feels like me that we are not the third world and that the camp at Calais is a disgrace and the French government should do something about it and I agree.
Because of political reasons the government is dragging its feet, but that is the government.
We  have French people sending money and donations and giving morale support, many also who want their government  (and ours) to do more.
All of us who care are of many different nationalities, nationality is not important in a crisis like this.
We are one world, one body of people and I will criticise anybody who is in a position to help and is not doing enough.
Dear Val
One of our principal criteria for applying for citizenship, which we hope to hear the outcome of soon, was the right to critisise and object by the only legal way possible ie the ballot box. Afterall although we all have the right to comment, preferably sensitively and constructively, this is not quite the same as criticism. I wonder what all the Londoners who share their capital with foreigners and tourists, think of  criticisms made by them;
I acknowlege that you pride yourself in your outspokeness and that is one of the amusements of TAG and perhaps a charectoristic we both share but being outspoken is not the same as criticising.

Val says I do not have pride in my opinions but I am not ashamed of them.

The problem with the English are you are too polite. We the French don't hesitate about critising every government including our own.If you want to take out French citizenship you'll have to do better. Be rude, complain, sigh a lot but do F all about anything. That will get you closer to the l'ame française.
