Thousands of police, both police nationale and gendarmes are taking to the place Vendome in Paris today to protest to the Minister for Justice for a variety of grievances. Lack of respect; shortage of staff and equipment; lax justice decisions; all areas which police say are making their job too difficult.
The inevitable disputes among drug gangs seem always, the police say, in them confronting thugs with Kalashnikovs, whose body armour is superior to their own. Makes you grateful we live here in the country where the local police municipal agent is more likely to face a blocked drain than a high powered rifle.
