Yours for 1.4 million euros

Original artwork for "Tour de Gaule", an Asterix album from 1963 was sold in Paris yesterday for a record sum of 1.4 million euros. The piece was signed and dedicated by Goscinny and Uderzo to their friend Pierre Tchernia, who died recently. A second cover from the same collection made 1.2 million euros, and the whole sale just under 3 million euros.
The Asterix BDs (bandes dessinées) have sold millions of copies and Asterix and Obelix are the world's most famous Gauls. These covers were estimated at 200000 euros and easily broke the records for BD artwork.
