Earlier in the week we were a bit fed up to find the boulangerie closed, till we read the message in the window that it is was for reasons of "sante ". Today the hairdresser told me that the baker had died. As she said, "worked hard all his life and coming up to retirement, then this." It will not be easy to find another baker for the town and as the season starts the boulangerie becomes one of the busiest shops in town. Remember Laguepie has a very busy campsite and campers walk along the river path to get their bread and croissants.
I was pleased to see the ginger cat sitting as always in the bread shop window, but I am sure new bakers will not allow that in future.
