This girl had courage

Renée Taillefer has died at the age of 88 in her native Tarn. In the spring of 1943 at the age of 15 she became an agent of the resistance, distributing tracts by night and liaising with the various maquisard groups. She also collected information on German troop movements for the resistants. Later she was recruited by a leading chef de reseau to transport arms and explosives and take part in blowing up trains and bridges. She was also often in groups receiving parachutes from the RAF and moving heavy arms "au nez et à la barbe des allemands." She joined the army in 1945 and received the Croix de Guerre at the age of 17.
The college in Gaillac was named after her in 2011.
