Nous sommes le jeudi dix huit fevrier

Damp and cold at the moment. The fields do not look frosty but the water on the donkeys buckets was frozen.
A busy day and evening for us last night. Our daughter and two girls were delighted to meet the young refugees who they had heard so much about. A car and mini bus full came to enjoy the film Paddington and have an ice cream chatting before the film.
We were delighted with the girls who had been a bit apprehensive but afterwards the darlings were full of  stories of what each one had said or done and then wanted me to tell more of their stories. Their empathy for the young man from Sudan who had lost all family was touching and I think against all the " Henley " look after number one types, Grandma and Grandads liberalism might stand a chance.
Charlotte commented " the treatment these boys have received is like the Jews in the 40's"
I said " no, not quite like that yet but we must stop it going any further. We need to try to change minds now for the good of mankind." Another three days and I think we will have converts to the cause, just by meeting and talking to the boys. It was interesting how after meeting the lads the girls were motivated to ask more.
