A scheme, a private initiative, to provide "S" stickers for senior drivers is gaining support, mainly amongst drivers themselves. Similar to the "A" stickers used by new accompanied drivers, the idea is to let other drivers know that the car ahead has an older driver and to make allowances. France is one of only three European countries not to require any re-examination of drivers due to advancing years, and drivers aged over 70 make up 16% of motorists, though are involved in only 9% of accidents
