No longer under house arrest

After a raid in flats at Montauban a group of tchétchène residents were put under house arrest, under the new laws given to the police to combat terrorism.
Yesterday the courts lifted this ban as there was no evidence of the terrorist claim.
Imagine families being faced by this group of gendarmes coming in the middle of the night?
A strong response to terrorism is needed but one has to take care to be fair and this ruling being lifted is a good one for liberty.
Report from the Depeche.
