Yet another lovely start to the morning, another prospect of a sunny day.
I am waiting to hear how a labrador / golden retriever is settling in its new home. Kathy had found the dog living with an 85 year old lady who really could not cope with it. The dog is about 4 years old and is sterilised, chipped vaccinated, everything as it should be, but just too lively for the old lady.
Last night after a few phone calls the dog is in its new home. There is always a trial period of two weeks so both pet and new owner can see if it all fits. I have fingers crossed.
The little golden cocker spaniel still needs a home but Kathy is hoping to rehome with a second dog
as she feels the dog needs a playmate. Personally I think an only dog with a couple who spends a lot of time with the dog and takes it with them, gives it lots of walks etc, has a fenced garden is just as good. It is the time one gives to the dog which is the important factor.
Last night we had the showing of " Slum dog millionaire" nine of the young refugees came. The others exhausted after a late night partying. They had cooked a meal to thank all us benevoles and we had music and songs. Then in the afternoon other young people from the commune at Verfeil joined them for " football and frites"
The film chosen for the cinema evening was a success, my car full going home, talked about the story all the way back which is always a sign it was enjoyed. One of the boys said " it was the best day ever"
Hearing this from a lad who arrived in torn jeans, no socks and flip flops only 5 weeks ago, well it is truly heart warming.
